What Is Total CGPA?

Total CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) represents your overall academic performance across all semesters. It is a weighted average of individual semester GPAs (SGPAs) based on credit hours.

This calculator helps you:

  • Track overall academic progress.
  • Estimate final CGPA before graduation.
  • Convert CGPA into percentage and total marks.
  • Break down CGPA by semesters (e.g., how to calculate total CGPA of 6 semesters).

How Total CGPA Is Calculated (Formula)

Total CGPA = ∑ (SGPA × Credits) ÷ ∑ Total Credits

Where:
SGPA = Semester Grade Point Average
Credits = Total credit hours for that specific semester

Let's look at a practical example. Assume you have the following data:

18.018144.0
27.519142.5
37.820156.0
47.218129.6

68.118145.8

Calculation: 875.9 ÷ 113 = 7.75 CGPA

How to Calculate Total Marks and Obtained Marks From CGPA

If your institute uses a 10-point GPA scale and marks are out of 100 per subject, the standard conversion is:

Percentage = CGPA × 10
Total Marks = Percentage × (Total Marks Possible ÷ 100)

Example:
CGPA = 7.75
Percentage = 7.75 × 10 = 77.50%
If Total Marks Possible = 1000, then Obtained Marks = 775.

Tips to Improve CGPA

  • Focus on high-credit courses: They influence your average more than 1 or 2 credit labs.
  • Track Early: Use this calculator every semester, not just at the end.
  • Avoid Failures: An 'F' grade (0.0 points) drastically lowers the numerator in the CGPA formula.
