How BRAC University Calculates CGPA
BRAC University grades on a 4.00 scale. Each course grade converts to a grade point, which gets multiplied by that course's credit hours. What This Calculator Actually Does
This tool takes the courses you enter โ their credit hours and letter grades โ and runs them through BRAC University's official weighted-average formula. It doesn't know on its own whether you're checking one semester or your whole transcript; that's determined entirely by which courses you type in. = 11.10 + 9.90 + 8.00 + 3.00 = 32.00 points
Total credits: 3 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 9

Notice the 1-credit lab barely moves the needle compared to the 3-credit courses โ which is exactly why credit-weighting matters more than students often expect going in.
How Retakes and Repeats Actually Affect Your CGPA
BRAC distinguishes between two different situations, and they don't work the same way:
- Retake (after an F): if you fail a course, you can retake it โ generally up to twice โ provided you've maintained at least a C in your other courses that semester. Whatever grade you earn on the retake fully replaces the F in your CGPA calculation.
- Repeat (grade of B- or below): you can repeat a course you passed but weren't happy with, once. Here's the catch โ even if you score higher than a B+ on the repeat, the university caps the recorded grade at B+. You won't get full credit for an A if you repeat a B- course.
Because these rules get revised periodically (the current version applies from Summer 2019 onward for most students), confirm your specific situation with your academic advisor or the Registrar's Office before relying on a retake to hit a target CGPA.
